Today we’d like to introduce you to Tiffany Selvaggio.
Hi Tiffany, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
My journey into the retail boutique world is deeply rooted in my family’s entrepreneurial spirit. Growing up, I was inspired by my father’s retail stores and my mother’s diverse business ventures, which truly paved the way for me.
Embracing motherhood and seeking independence, I decided to launch my own boutique. The idea of a traditional 9-to-5 or working for someone else just wasn’t for me; I was determined to chart my own course. Every day in fashion retail is a dream, even with its ups and downs. Watching clients light up when they find something special in my shop makes it all incredibly rewarding.
In this community, i’m more than just a clothing supplier to the community, I am their fashion consultant, their friend, somewhere they can come to unwind and spoil themselves; we’re a tight-knit group of incredible women, each with interwoven stories that make us stronger together. I started this venture with my son Alexander just beginning to crawl, fueled by the wisdom of my parents and a solid business education.
My kids are learning invaluable life lessons right alongside me, seeing firsthand that perseverance can turn dreams into reality. Throughout it all, my husband has been my rock and a brilliant strategist.
Today, I not only steer my own ship but also mentor up-and-coming boutique owners. After ten years, I’m here—thankful and driven, supported by my family and this amazing community. We’re not just running a shop; together, we’re nurturing dreams to life.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Everything has a learning curve, and starting out as a stay-at-home mom, diving into a full time small business owner; even with a degree was legit terrifying. I never lacked any confidence in anything I have taken on, so I feel like that really helped me propel my business and just figure it out. As time went on, I learned how to use my business on social media, and that took my business to new heights I never imagined. There is lulls in any business, for retail businesses, we slow down around holidays and summer, mostly because my audience is spending their money on others and not shopping for themselves during Christmas time. We pivot during those times, and we showcase our accessories line more and bring in less clothing styles. Being an entrepreneur I have had to learn to learn new things and change with the times over these last 10 years, sometimes things that worked last season no longer work for me this season. I am ever changing and trying new things and that where I think I have found success,
As you know, we’re big fans of Selvaggio Style Boutique . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
My brand has evolved over time, and it just keeps getting better and better. We specialize in comfortable fashion forward clothing for women between the ages of 35 and 85. Comfort is our number one priority and being trendy is also very important. The clothing travels well and also sizes easily across the board for our clients. We have helped clients write their stories with confidence. We don’t sell them clothing, we sell them an experience. Helping them choose an outfit that showcases their personality the best, and makes them feel beautiful. Remembering how they feel when they walked into that interview or that date, that’s what we are going for. We help style, we offer retailtainment is what we like to call it, and we create friendships with our clients. We know their grandchildren’s names, their pet’s names, and what type of color or print they are most attracted to. They cannot find this service at the local big box stores.
What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love Holly Springs, it is growing by leaps and bounds. We have so many different businesses around the area, and Holly Springs offers so much. I love that it is not out in the country, and that we have so many things right at our fingertips in terms of out to eat, and entertainment. This is a great place for children to grow up in.
